The JETWING LAKE is a hotel. Located in DAMBULLA area. Surrounded by centuries' old history, and located amidst a secluded dry zone forest, Jetwing Lake bears a mysticism to it that is undeniable. The Hotel also overlooks the Siyambalaweva water tank, which has been part of ancient civilization. Jetwing Lake nimbly combines contemporary architecture with the solitude of the Siyambalaweva banks, and its placid ambience. Sprawled on an expansive area of 18 acres, the Hotel is a languid retreat with easy access to Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle and its curiosities. Wildlife Safaris to the Minneriya and Wasgamuwa National Parks, treks and hikes through its richly bio-diverse environment, quiet times of bird watching, and exploration of the Dambulla cave temple are a few other interests to pursue here. Besides an internationally inspired menu, and an in house Chinese Restaurant, for those preferring an experience of a true Sri Lanka flavour, Jetwing Lake also specializes in authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, prepared from fresh produce grown locally in the area. Jetwing Lake is approximately 175 Km from the capital city of Colombo, 150 km from the Bandaranaike International Airport and 285 Km from the Mattala International Airport. Taking the Negombo Road, along the Ambepussa-Kurunegala-Trincomalee Highway from Colombo or the Bandaranaike International Airport, right through Narammala, Kurunegala, and Melsiripura is perhaps the more familiar and fastest route to get to Dambulla. The drive from the main airport will take not more than 3 1/2 hours. This route cuts across the central province of the country and makes for a scenic tour for adventurous travellers. Dambulla is famed for its Cave Temple, which is an official UNESCO World Heritage Site – deemed as one of the oldest and well preserved temple complexes in the country. Statues and paintings in these caves date back to the 1st century BC, and depict the life of Lord Buddha. The Dambulla city belongs to the cultural triangle of Sri Lanka, and bears witness to the ancient archaeological prowess of the island. Its historic significance arises from the event of having provided refuge to King Valagamba who was in exile, and a congregation of meditating monks who seem to have protected him. Even today, the city is revered as a holy site, and the cave murals are a wonder by themselves. Besides its historic significance, Dambulla is also rich in natural resources. It boasts of the largest rose quartz mountain range in South Asia, and an iron wood forest, also known as Na Uyana Aranya. Situated amidst this intriguing cultural background, Jetwing Lake is a resort to both unwind and take in the surrounding nature, and launch on a journey of discovery.
